Hall of Fame Class of 2023

We are thrilled to welcome the 2023 class into the Maven Analytics Hall of Fame!

Before we get into the nominations, a big thank you to everyone in the data community who submitted a nomination to help us select this group.

This year's group of nominees was tough to vote on, because of the strength of the overall field. But in the end, four of the nominees really stood out.

Everyone who was nominated should feel a sense of pride. You are an impressive group of people, and we are glad to have you in the data community.

Before we introduce our inductees, let's have a quick reminder about the qualities that earned these individuals their spots.

This new class represents the characteristics that we most value in our students and in the broader data community.

1) Maven Hall of Famers are committed to lifelong learning.

2) They actively participate in the Maven community and broader data community.

3) They consistently support and encourage others in the Maven community.

4) They bring a positive energy to their learning and their work.

To sum it up, these are the people that make being a part of Maven such an enjoyable experience for instructors, and for the entire data community.

There was more than just glory on the line. Each of the folks being honored today will receive the exclusive Hall of Fame badge, and have also been given free lifetime access to the entire Maven library of courses.

Now, let's introduce the Hall of Fame Class of 2023!

Margaret Efron

First up, we've got Margaret who made a name for herself in the data community in 2023 by giving back and teaching others online in a major way.

If you search for #shadystats on LinkedIn, you'll quickly see a couple of things...

  1. A series of posts from Margaret calling out misuses and misrepresentations of data in the media, which serve as solid concrete examples we can all learn from

  2. Similar posts from other folks, which include notes that say things 'inspired by Margaret Efron's #shadystats series'

She's not only sharing to help educate the data community, but inpiring others to do the same. That's awesome, and exactly what the HOF is all about!!

Margaret is also writing on Medium, helping to educate the data community with some fantastic long-form articles. She's amassed a large following there, and has published some great data content with thousands of claps...WOW!

If you have the good fortune of talking with Margaret, you'll find she's exactly what you would expect from someone giving back so much to the data community...humble, grateful, just an awesome person who we are proud to induct into the 2023 Hall of Fame Class.

Congratulations Margaret!

Jasmin Jusufbegovic

At this point, I couldn't imagine the data community without Jasmin.

It's hard to know where to start with him...

Committed to lifelong learning... check! Jasmin just earned the 365 day learning streak badge, completing over 30 Maven courses in the process.

Actively participate in the Maven community and the broader data community...oh heck yes! If you've been part of any of our challenges over the past year, you've probably been cheered on by Jasmin, seen his repeat finalist entries. He's also one of only three people (with Zoe Douglas and Gerard Duggan) to ever win two or more challenges. Impressive stuff!

Bring a positive energy to their learning and their work... that's an understatement! While the commitment to learning and the support he gives to the data community are impressive, my favorite thing about Jasmin is that he has so much fun doing it. This is a guy who will help you learn something new and make you laugh all in the same breath. Check out his LinkedIn profile banner, which reads...

Hi! I'm Jasmin, a CX Analyst interrogating, data until it surrenders its deepest darkest secrets.

And his SQL joke after becoming the 5th person ever to earn the 365 day streak badge...

Jasmin SQL

Everything is just a little lighter when Jasmin is around. His playfulness and charm helps bring us all up as we learn together. He is someone we are proud to induct into the 2023 Maven Analytics Hall of Fame.

Congratulations Jasmin!

Jessica Vasale Mehrens

The Maven team and I had the pleasure of getting to know Jessica during one of our live cohorts. She was one of those people that brought up the entire class with her enthusiasm and participating in all of the discussions and projects.

Since graduation, she's also come back to share her story with the next class of students, helping to inspire them for the road ahead.

Jessica is extremely active in the data community on LinkedIn, where you will see her giving back by sharing data-specific tips and projects, encouraging others consistently, and also being very open and transparent about her own journey through career transitioning.

We are glad to have Jessica in the data community and proud to welcome her into the Maven Hall of Fame.

Congratulations Jessica!

Lauren Rosenthal

You probably know Lauren already.

She's been extremely active in the data community the past couple of years, putting her learning journey on display while she was transitioning from healthcare to data.

But Lauren didn't stop sharing her journey when she landed her first Analyst role. She stayed active, continuing to help the next wave of aspiring data professionals. She even applied to help students learn SQL with Maven in a part-time teaching assistant role, which she was hired for.

Lauren's enthusiasm for data and helping others was so powerful that we knew we had to figure out a way to get her onboard full-time, which we did just about a year ago. Since then, she's been on fire, helping students with their courses, helping our Enterprise and Small Business customers build learning plans to fit their needs, and creating tons of learning content for the data community. She's already been promoted and seemingly turns everything she touches into a winner.

And yes, she's still extremely active sharing with the data community. If you're not one of the over 14,000 people following her on LinkedIn already, you should be.

We're proud to induct Lauren with the 2023 class and grateful to have her as part of the team.

Congratulations Lauren!
