The dashboard is available for viewing here.

The dataset for this project consisted of transaction records from 3 "Maven Roasters" franchises. The data was clean but needed to be prepped for analysis. I added:

  • Individual data/time fields to allow for easier grouping
  • A calculated revenue field

I created several pivot tables and charts to better understand the data. These were assembled into a dashboard with a few individual KPIs to make the data more easily scannable. The charts and KPIs were tied together on the dashboard with a slicer so that each of 3 franchise owners could dig into the information for their store.

Findings:

  • All franchises showed positive revenue growth for the period.
  • Astoria's most popular product type was Chai, while the Barista Expresso was most popular at the other two stores.
  • The busiest day was Thursday for Astoria, Friday for Hell's kitchen, and Monday for Lower Manhattan. Traffic peaked for all stores at 10 a.m. daily.
  • There were several products at each location that had very low sales over the first half of the year; the franchises should consider phasing those out of their store, especially the dry goods, to make room for other, more popular products.

Unfortunately this data set didn't include cost information, so the profitability of the products and categories couldn't be considered in this analysis.
