National Rail Passenger Insights Dashboard: Key Findings

This dashboard explored train travel data to understand passenger behavior. Here's what we learned:

  • Popular Routes:
    • Most Popular: Manchester Piccadilly to Liverpool Lime Street (fastest route at 30 minutes!)
    • Top Destination: Birmingham New Street (most people arrive here)
  • Travel Times:
    • Busiest Time: Evenings around 6:45 pm (more trains needed!)
    • Avoid: 10:45 am (worst on-time performance at 62%)
  • Revenue:
    • Most Revenue: London Kings Cross to York (especially on-time journeys)
    • Digital Wins: Online tickets generate the most money (people love convenience!)
    • Off-peak Challenge: Off-peak tickets have high refund rates (need to understand why)
    • Revenue Boost: Focus on improving high-revenue routes for even more profit
  • On-Time Performance:
    • Overall: 86.88% on-time (room for improvement!)
    • Most Delays: Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston (mostly 30-minute to 1-hour delays)
    • Delay Reasons: Weather and technical issues (plan ahead!)
  • Passenger Trends:
    • New Rail card Users: Encourage more people to get rail cards for discounts and loyalty!
    • Biggest Group: 21,000 passengers without rail cards (potential customers!)
    • Total Tickets Sold: 32,000 at an average price of £23.44
    • Station to Watch: Manchester Piccadilly (most people board here!)

This data can help National Rail improve services and make more money!
